Ruthanne comes from a military family background, living in Japan, Germany, Italy and England, attended four different schools in fourth grade and went to high school in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
She’s had diverse careers-from restaurant and medical office management to operating a riding stable while showing quarter horses, working in healthcare and fund-raising before purchasing and operating an art gallery.
Majoring in writing and advertising in college, she’s always written poetry and has compiled a book of her works which is sold out. She has written an historical romance novel about pioneer women in the 1840’s, a novel about the rural south and is currently working on a children’s’ book. Completing a book is a feat in itself; it’s another entire career to get it published. But there are so many stories to tell.
Ruthanne spent much of her early life in Wyoming and Colorado-hence her love of horses, music and the great outdoors. She lived in several states before making Oregon her home.
She sings, plays guitar and composes songs. Ruthanne has always pursued her dreams and doesn’t plan to stop now!
“I felt it a real privilege to be part of a community and believe strongly in giving back to my community.” She’s served on many committees and boards through the years, including the Arts Council, Past President of Soroptimist International and recipient of their “Woman of Distinction Award”, Past President of Hospice, and Past President of Sierra Professional Network, a graduate of Leadership 2001 and a Past President of a California Chamber of Commerce. She chaired the Rotarian Silent Auction Committee, planned demotion parties, and served as bulletin editor for 12 years.
Ruthanne retired to Colorado where she lived and painted under the Rocky Mountain skies for years before relocating to Oregon, where she paints and performs her original songs.
